Meet The Artisans

Sosu Pure takes pride in its premium natural ingredients, but it is the men and women artisan farmers of South Sudan who make every Sosu Pure product truly exceptional. We value this relationship with our partners, and invite you to meet some of the individuals and groups behind Sosu Pure.

EzekielEzekiel
Ezekiel had been beekeeping for years before becoming a supplier for Sosu Pure Honey. He is passionate about his work, establishing beehives all around his property and tutoring many of the younger, less experienced beekeepers. He constantly experiments with different flowers and different flowers for his bees, and is always looking for interesting new honey flavors.

Celina Juan is a member of the Bila Wa Teki (“Raise Women Up”) women’s cooperative in Kajo Keji. She and her colleagues have been making shea butter, cooking oil and soap from the “Lulu” shea tree for several years. Recently they decided to expand their business, and in 2013 Celina attended a beekeeping training session sponsored by Sosu Pure’s founders. Now Celina and the women of Bila Wa Teki are part of the Sosu Pure family, producing high quality shea butter and honey.

EzekielBeekeeping Cooperatives
Many of the beekeepers producing honey for Sosu Pure are members of farming cooperatives. In a cooperative, more experienced members will mentor their colleagues, and everyone shares their skills and tools with one another. Each cooperative chooses a distinct name, often a motto that describes the group’s history or philosophy. Some of our favorites: “Metakana” (Wait and See), “Kita Na Nyei” (You Eat What You Make), “Mure Kita” (Those Who Persevere) and “Togole Mugun” (Improve Yourself).
